PS5 with no picture is nearly always a knocked HDMI port — desoldered and replaced, rather than paying for an exchange console. More on console repairs →
Dead spots, dropping connections, access points, patch panels and structured cabling for offices and units.
Gaming and workstation PCs spec'd to your budget, built, cable managed and stress tested. Or a GPU, RAM, cooler or NVMe fitted to the machine you already own. More on builds →

Someone catches the cable, the console gets moved with it plugged in, and the port takes the strain. The console still powers on and the fan still spins — there's just nothing on the screen.
Most places will tell you to send it to Sony for a paid exchange, because fixing it properly means lifting a surface-mount port off a live board with hot air and fitting a new one. That's what's happening in that photo. You get your own console back, with your own drive and your own saves still on it.
Also liquid damage, controller drift, and the same work on Xbox and older PlayStation consoles.
A full health check for your computer — we clean it up, speed it up, and make sure everything is running as it should. You get a written summary with a clear steer on what's worth doing next.
Popular with small businesses running a handful of machines that have never been looked at properly.
WhatsApp, call or the form below. Describe the fault in your own words — "it's making a noise and won't turn on" is plenty to go on.
I collect it, come to you, or connect remotely, and find out what’s actually wrong. You get a plain-English explanation and one price for the work. Nothing happens until you say yes.

Talk about a websiteHi, I'm Darryl. I started Tech Menders UK to give people in Manchester a reliable, honest alternative to big repair chains and overpriced callouts. My goal is simple — keep your existing kit working without costing a fortune. If you do need a new machine, I'll make the switch as painless as possible.
No call centre, no ticket queue, no engineer who's never spoken to you before. You explain the problem to me and I'm the one who fixes it and hands it back.
Based in Chadderton, Oldham — covering Oldham, Rochdale, Middleton, Ashton and central Manchester in person, and anywhere in the UK remotely.
Brilliant service. Darryl was quick to get in touch and to come around to talk about the laptop issues we were having. He explained everything really well and clear so we could understand the issues. He kept in touch throughout with updates, what he was trying etc.HEENA

Callouts to homes and business premises in and around:
Not on the list? Ask anyway — and remote support works anywhere with an internet connection.
Every job starts with finding out what's actually wrong. Once I know, you get one fixed price for the work — agreed before anything starts, so you're never guessing and there's no hourly meter running. Cost depends on the fault and any parts needed, and most jobs come to considerably less than replacing the machine, which is the whole point.
That's entirely your call and there's no pressure either way. The diagnostic charge may still apply, since that work has already been done, and any parts bought with your approval are chargeable. I'll always tell you before ordering anything.
Most software faults, clean installs and speed-up jobs are same day. Anything waiting on a part is usually next day once it arrives. I'll give you a realistic timescale with the quote rather than an optimistic one.
No. Your data is backed up before anything is reinstalled or replaced, and it goes back on afterwards. If a drive is already failing, recovering what's on it is the first job, not the last.
Whichever suits. I do on-site visits across Greater Manchester, collection and return locally, and remote sessions for anything that doesn't need hands on the hardware.
Yes. The common one is a PS5 that's stopped outputting picture — nine times out of ten that's a damaged HDMI port, usually from the cable getting knocked while it's plugged in. The port gets desoldered and a new one fitted, and the console comes back working rather than going off for a costly exchange.
Also: overheating and fan noise, liquid damage, disc drives that won't take or eject a game, and controller drift. Xbox and older PlayStation consoles too.
Yes. Give me a budget and what you want to play or run, and I'll put a spec together, build it, test it under load and hand it over ready to go. I'll also upgrade a machine you already own.
Yes. That can be pay-as-you-go, or a monthly arrangement covering your machines, backups and a set response time. No long tie-ins.
Fill in the form and I'll get back to you, usually within a few hours. It opens a WhatsApp message already written — or just call.
The working arrangement between you and Tech Menders UK — what I'll do, what it costs, what happens to your data, and where the limits are.
Tech Menders UK is a sole trader business run by Darryl, based in Chadderton, Oldham. In these terms "I" and "Tech Menders UK" mean the same thing, and "you" means the customer.
TODOAdd trading name, correspondence address, and VAT number if registered.
Every job begins with a diagnosis, charged at the rate agreed with you before I start. Once I know what's wrong I give you a fixed price for the repair, and nothing goes ahead until you've agreed to it.
If I open a machine up and find a second, unrelated fault, I'll stop and come back to you with a revised price rather than carrying on and adding it to the bill.
Quotes hold for 30 days. Part prices can move, so if you come back later I may need to re-quote.
Every job begins with a diagnosis so we both know what's actually wrong before any money is spent on a repair. The following are chargeable:
Nothing is added to the bill without being agreed with you first. If I find a second, unrelated fault while I'm in there, I'll stop and come back to you rather than carrying on.
"Fixed" means the fault you brought the machine in for is resolved. It doesn't mean the machine is guaranteed against every future problem.
TODOIf you credit the diagnostic charge against the repair when the customer goes ahead, say so here — it reads well.
I take reasonable care with anything stored on your machine, and I back data up before reinstalling or replacing anything where it's possible to do so.
Please back up before handing anything over. Hardware that's already failing can lose data at any moment, including while it's being worked on. Where a drive is already faulty I can't guarantee recovery, and recovery is attempted on a best-efforts basis.
I don't look through your files beyond what the job requires, and anything I do see stays confidential. If I hold a copy of your data as part of a transfer or recovery job, I'll delete it once you've confirmed the job is complete — normally within 30 days.
TODOConfirm the retention period you want to commit to.
Labour is covered for 90 days from the date the machine goes back to you. If the same fault returns in that window, bring it back and I'll sort it at no further labour cost.
Parts carry whatever warranty the manufacturer gives them, which I'll pass on to you. Batteries and consumables are excluded, as is anything that fails through accidental damage, liquid, misuse or a further fault elsewhere in the machine.
The warranty doesn't cover software problems, malware, or faults caused by changes made after the machine left me.
TODOConfirm 90 days is the labour warranty you want to offer.
Payment is due on completion, before the machine goes back to you, unless we've agreed something else in writing. Business customers on agreed account terms pay within the period stated on the invoice.
TODOList payment methods accepted, invoice terms for business accounts, and any late payment charge.
Once I've told you a job is finished, please arrange collection or delivery within 30 days.
Items left beyond 90 days after completion, where I've made reasonable attempts to contact you, may be recycled or disposed of to recover unpaid costs. I'll always try to reach you first.
TODOConfirm these windows suit how you work.
You can cancel before work starts at no cost. If parts have already been ordered specially for your job, those may be chargeable.
Where you've booked a service remotely as a consumer, you have the statutory 14-day right to cancel. If you've asked me to start work inside that period, you may owe for what's already been done.
I'm liable for loss or damage caused by my failure to use reasonable care and skill, up to the value of the work carried out.
I'm not liable for lost data where you hadn't backed up and a backup was reasonably possible, for loss of business, profit or opportunity, or for faults that existed before I touched the machine.
Nothing here limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that can't be limited by law. Your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Website projects are quoted as a fixed price against an agreed scope, with a deposit up front and the balance on completion. Once the final balance is paid, the site is yours outright — files, content and design.
You're responsible for having the right to use any text, images or logos you supply. Where hosting or domains are arranged through me, those are billed separately and run on the provider's own terms.
Tech Menders UK may be credited in the site footer and may show the finished site as an example of my work, unless you ask me not to.
TODOConfirm deposit percentage, revision rounds included, and what happens if a project stalls client-side.
Your name, contact details, address where a visit is needed, and details of the device and fault. For business customers, company and billing details.
To carry out the work you've asked for, to invoice you, and to keep records I'm legally required to keep.
Nobody, other than where it's needed to do the job — a parts supplier receiving a delivery address, for example — or where the law requires it. I don't sell or share your details for marketing.
Job records and invoices are kept for six years to meet HMRC requirements. Data held for a transfer or recovery job is deleted once the job is confirmed complete.
You can ask for a copy of what I hold, ask for it to be corrected, or ask for it to be deleted where I'm not legally required to keep it. Email me and I'll deal with it within one month. If you're unhappy with how I've handled your data you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
The site doesn't set tracking or advertising cookies. The contact form doesn't store anything — it opens a pre-filled message in WhatsApp or your email client, which you then choose to send. Hosting provider logs may record standard technical information such as IP addresses.
TODOIf you add analytics or an embedded map later, this needs updating and you'll need a cookie banner.
If something's gone wrong, tell me directly and I'll try to put it right — that's always faster than anything formal.
